Welcome to Brownstone Mediation Services! We appreciate you stopping by to learn more about what it is we can do for you. I suspect you are here because your life is changing? Well, you have come to the right place. You are probably sitting there and asking if there really is a difference between dispute resolution and reconciliation, right? I would actually suggest there is and I'll take a brief moment to explain how. Dispute resolution focuses on resolving a disagreement and being able to make a firm decision to do something or not do something; essentially solving your own problem peacefully and sometimes not so peacefully! Whether it’s a business or working relationship, personal, or professional affiliation, reconciliation seeks to restore the relationship. Reconciliation is your ability to agree to come together to mend whatever differences you have.
Times when you are unwilling or unable to resolve a dispute, one alternative option is to turn to mediation instead of to the court. Court systems are so overwhelmed with litigants and lack of court officers that many times the entire court process is lengthy, time consuming, and most likely will leave you unsatisfied. Keep in mind, the vast majority of disputes involve two kinds of issues; the issue you are in discord over and the relationship to the individual you are in discord with; for example the disagreement with members of your family over items left behind after a loss in the family, a disagreement with the contractor whom you’ve hired to do some work around your home, or maybe even your spouse whom you no longer share marital bliss. Divorce does not have to begin in court! Often times if two parties attempt to deal with one issue and not the other, the final agreement most likely will be insufficient and unsatisfactory for all parties involved.
